Company Vision: Charging for a sustainable future

Core Differences Between Maruikel’s EV Power Battery and Energy Storage Battery

There are significant differences between power batteries and energy storage batteries in many aspects, which Maruikel elaborated in detail as follows:

  1. Definition and Use:

Power battery: refers to the battery used to store and provide power for BEVs, plug-in hybrid EVs and other vehicles. Its main function is to discharge and provide power support for long-term and continuous use scenarios (such as driving of automobiles).

Energy storage battery: a battery used for storing energy, which converts electrical energy into chemical energy and stores it for release when needed. It is more suitable for short-term and intermittent usage scenarios, such as power grid peak shaving and network energy storage.

  1. Lifespanand Characteristics:

Power battery: It is a type of battery with a long lifespan, featuring high energy density and the ability to be cyclically used in a high-rate partial state of charge. These batteries can be recycled and maintain high performance in a wide temperature range (-30 ~ 65℃).

Energy storage battery: It has a low energy density. In some applications, they may be designed with automatic charging/discharging function to adapt to specific energy demand patterns.

  1. Application Scenarios:

Power battery: mainly used in the automotive field, including EVs and hybrid vehicles. They provide power for cars and help reduce pollution and carbon emissions.

Energy storage battery: The application scenarios are more extensive, including home energy storage, network energy storage, power grid peak shaving and EV charging equipment. They play an important role in all levels of modern power system, which helps to avoid energy waste and reduce carbon emissions.

Core Differences Between Maruikel’s EV Power Battery and Energy Storage Battery 1

  1. Market and Prospect:

Power Battery: With the rapid development of the new energy vehicle market, the demand for power batteries is also growing rapidly. It is expected that by 2025, the cumulative retired power batteries globally will reach 137.4 GWh, and the output value of cascade utilization and recycling is expected to exceed the scale of 100 billion.

Energy Storage Battery: With the continuous development of technologies such as smart grids and renewable energy, the demand for energy storage batteries is also gradually increasing. Especially after the large-scale rise of electric vehicles, the importance of energy storage batteries in the electric vehicle industry chain will become even more prominent.

To sum up, there are obvious differences between power battery and energy storage battery in definition, use, life, characteristics and application scenarios. These differences enable them to play their unique roles in different fields and applications.
